Hey everybody! Thanks so much for checking in and hanging with us. Here are the notes and links to the latest episode, located on our YouTube channel.

What were we drinking? I was enjoying a Gin Rickey, which is a classic cocktail created by a bartender in Washington, DC in the late 1800s at the request of Joe Rickey, a well known lobbyist in the city. Joe enjoyed his drink with bourbon but gin creates an amazingly refreshing summer drink. Here’s the recipe I use, which is a variation of the classic drink:

Aliceson’s Gin Rickey

makes 1 cocktail

2 ounces Bombay Sapphire Gin

1/2 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice

Topo Chico

lime wedges and fresh cherries

Fill a high ball or equivalent glass with crushed ice (I use a mason jar). Pour gin and lime juice and stir. Top with Topo Chico and garnish with lime wedges and cherries. Enjoy!

Barry enjoyed a Ranch Water, which is also a great summer cocktail and so so easy to bring together. It’s all about cooling off and enjoying a rocking chair on a porch on a hot summer afternoon. It doesn’t have a clear history, I think some folks just happened upon it when they enjoyed Topo Chico, which is amazing by itself or mixed with anything and everything. Both of these cocktails are great, too, for those wanting to limit sugar intake.

Barry’s Ranch Water

makes 1 cocktail

3 ounces Espolon tequila

1.5 ounces fresh lime juice

Topo Chico

Fill a mason jar with crushed ice. Add tequila and lime juice and stir. Top with Topo Chico and garnish with limes.

Aliceson will join Amy Campbell on Amy’s long-running podcast and radio show Tennessee Farm Table beginning June 19. You can access Amy’s show and listen to Aliceson’s segment beginning June 19 as well as listen to previous episodes here: https://www.tennesseefarmtable.com/.

And Pinky Tuscadero was Fonzie’s girlfriend on Happy Days. She was accompanied by her sister, Leather Tuscadero. Aliceson thought Leather was the coolest person ever and even attempted her super-cool, way ahead-of-the-curve shag/mullet hairstyle. Sadly, as Aliceson’s hair is super curly naturally and her mom bought the cheapest White Rain hair products this was a disaster and Aliceson was made fun of for years. Only time and Aussie hair products offered slight relief. With adulthood, quality products and wisdom Aliceson realizes she can never pull off a mullet so hasn’t revisited Leather’s style but does dream about Pinky’s pink motorcycle.
